Who Can Apply?

Senior One (S.1) Entry

For students completing Primary Seven (PLE).

  • Uganda Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) results slip
  • Minimum aggregate of 20 or below (Distinction or Credit)
  • Birth certificate or baptism card (original & copy)
  • Two recent passport photographs
  • Completed application form (available below)
  • Non-refundable application fee of UGX 20,000
Senior Five (S.5) Entry

For students who have completed O-Level (UCE).

  • UCE results slip showing Division I or II
  • Minimum of 6 passes including relevant A-Level subjects
  • Official school leaving certificate
  • Birth certificate (original & copy)
  • Two recent passport photographs
  • Non-refundable application fee of UGX 20,000

Gather Required Documents

Compile all supporting documents listed in the entry requirements above. Ensure all originals and certified copies are ready.

Submit Your Application

Submit the completed form and documents in person at the school office, or via email to admissions@lighths.ac.ug by the deadline.

Admission Interview & Assessment

Shortlisted applicants will be contacted for a brief interview. S.1 entrants sit a short placement assessment in English and Mathematics.

Receive Admission Letter

Successful candidates receive an official admission letter detailing reporting instructions, fees, and the required items list.

Report & Join Us!

Pay the required fees, collect your uniform from the school store, and report on the designated date. Welcome to the Light family!

All fees are payable per term. Three terms per academic year. Fees are reviewed annually.

Fees exclude uniform, bedding (boarding), and stationery. Payment plans are available — contact the bursar's office for details. Bursaries and partial scholarships are available for exceptional students with demonstrated financial need.

Frequently Asked Questions

We require a minimum aggregate of 20 or below (equivalent to a Distinction or Credit pass) in the Uganda Primary Leaving Examination. Exceptional candidates with higher aggregates may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Yes. We accept mid-year transfers subject to available space. Transfer students must provide a leaving certificate from their previous school, academic transcripts, and a letter of good conduct from their previous headteacher.

Yes. Light High School offers a limited number of partial bursaries for academically outstanding students from financially disadvantaged backgrounds. Applications for bursaries are reviewed separately. Please contact the bursar's office for details and eligibility criteria.

Yes. We understand that school fees can be a significant commitment for families. A structured payment plan is available — please discuss this with the bursar before the start of each term. At least 60% of the term's fees must be paid before a student reports.

A full items list is included with the admission letter. Essentials include: school uniform (purchased at school), bedding (mattress, sheets, blankets), toiletries, school shoes, and stationery. Electronic devices such as phones and tablets are not permitted in the dormitories.
